i'm not even 20 pages into his book (after seeing this aired almost a year ago) and i am truly connecting w/his words. "make a list of the loudest or most prevalent noise sources in our world: airplanes, automobile traffic, weaponry, power tools, 'thrillcraft.' Almost every one of them has to do with reducing (or 'killing') time, space, or labor." i'm seriously sick (psychologically and physically when you consider how noise affects rest and true peace of mind) of all the noise that is so much a part of the loud world we live in (city life in particular). "to say that you want to live in a less noisy world, and to say it with any depth of conviction, is in essence to say that you'd like to have your body back."
